WHAT WE DO
We provide free guitars and guitar lessons to students from low-income families in McHenry County, Illinois. Many schools that are in financial trouble begin "fixing" their funding problems by eliminating programs. Music and Art seem to always be the first to feel the pinch. But even in a healthy school system, music programs rarely include applied lessons on the guitar. This leaves many children from low-income families without ever getting the chance to experience the joys of playing the guitar. Our mission is to fill this void by making free guitars and lessons available to children from low-income families.

HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS
Our program runs the length of the school year. During the program, students are "loaned" a new acoustic guitar. Upon completion of the program the student gets to keep the guitar they earned.
Classes run for an hour a week in groups of 10 to 15 students. Classes are taught by an experienced instructor and an assistant–to be sure the students get individual attention.
DONATE
We survive through donations by people like you. While instrument manufacturers and local music stores give us discounted prices, the price of getting lessons to our students can run over $150 per year, per student. Your donations are tax deductible.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation by check, it can be made out to "Free Guitars for Future Stars" and mailed to:
